Kaizer Chiefs head coach Ernst Middendorp has revealed the secret behind his drastic change from being a hot-tempered manager to one that exudes calmness with every passing sentence from his mouth.
Middendorp was notorious for frustrated rants aimed at just about everyone in the footballing world however the German tactician has revealed the reason behind his newfound calm nature.
Middendorp has maintained his cool even when provoked by outspoken rivals like Mamelodi Sundowns’ Pitso Mosimane and Benni McCarthy of Cape Town City claiming it was in his post Maritzburg United time in Thailand where he learnt to keep his cool.
“In the culture of Thailand there’s no conflict‚" he said.
"It’s like they ‘don’t allow anybody to lose a face.’ I was nailed like I was on the wall by the bosses over there‚ and then you start reflecting and you start sitting into it. I said it before‚ I think it’s (being calm) not to my disadvantage‚ or is it?”
